What is one word you would use to describe Brooke’s Place?

Compassionate

What is your involvement with Brooke’s Place?

In the early days, I followed a friend’s suggestion to join her as a Brooke’s Place volunteer facilitator. We both knew Brooke’s family through our children’s school. And, along with many others, we believed in the importance of a grieving center. Later I also joined the board and eventually became its secretary. As a Program Night facilitator for the 3–5-year-old group, I witnessed the caring commitment that Brooke’s Place offers to children and families on their grief journey. As a board member, I supported that mission with grant writing, a skill that eventually became my profession. When I began contemplating retirement, my first wish was to resume volunteering at Brooke’s Place! I’m excited to be part of the Brooke’s Place family again, this time assisting with grant research and office tasks and certifying a therapy dog through Paws & Think for Program Night. Emma, my two-year-old golden retriever, is working hard (with lots of treats) to reach that goal!
