Carol started at Brooke’s Place in 1999 as a Graduate Intern, then on program staff in 2000 to present day. She transitioned from a 10 year career as a teacher at Hamilton Southeastern High School, where she was awarded “Teacher of the Year,” in 1996. From 2000-2006, Carol was the Program Director at Brooke’s Place, overseeing the on-going grief support groups program. In 2006, she became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and that same year was promoted as the Executive Program Director. Since 2006, Carol continues to co-teach the Brooke’s Place facilitator training, also offers continuing education workshops for professionals and presents at various local annual conferences. She was instrumental in launching the therapy services program (individual & family grief counseling) (2008) and the BP8 short-term grief support groups program (2015). In 2016, she received another promotion as the Clinical Director of Programs & Services. “I just don’t feel alone anymore,” is what an 8 year old boy, grieving the death of his older brother by homicide, taught her about his time at Brooke’s Place. Having been taught by 1,000s of children and families living with grief, it is an honor to Carol to serve at Brooke’s Place, which believes that no person living with childhood grief should ever feel alone. Carol and her son Sam enjoy spending time with family and friends. In her free time, she also enjoys reading, running, doing yard work, cooking, learning about autism, golfing and going to the beach whenever possible!
