Tara Ntumba

Tara joined the Brooke's Place team as the Support Group Director and a therapist in 2014.  She earned her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University and a B.S. in Church Ministry from Southeastern University.  Tara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) through the International Association of Trauma Professionals.  Tara is deeply committed to supporting families through some of the most difficult seasons of life.  Prior to joining the Brooke's Place team, she worked for 10 years with at-risk youth in central Indiana recovering from addiction, self-harm and other life controling issues. Tara and her husband, Sixco, have volunteered extensively with children and youth through their local church, and in Sub-Saharan Africa, serving communities impacted by extreme poverty, trauma and loss.  Tara focused much of her graduate level research on the well-being of grieving young people and has found a home for her passion to support bereaved families right here at Brooke's Place.  Whether in support groups or therapy services, Tara considers it an honor to support such precious families along the journey of grief.  With family in Africa, Florida and Colorado, she loves traveling, going on safari, soaking up sun by the ocean, and enjoying new experiences with family and friends.
