Helen McClain, MSW, LCSW

Helen McClain, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work studying at Indiana University. She additionally completed a Post-Master’s Certificate in Palliative Care through California State University, San Marcos. She has participated in and facilitated numerous workshops, trainings and conferences in her profession. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Through her career history as a hospice and palliative care social worker, Helen has considered it an honor and privilege to serve and to be present with individuals and families of all ages experiencing grief and loss while navigating through the complex life-altering impact of death and dying. Helen has a long connection with Brooke’s Place since her training as a Support Group Facilitator in 2000. She recently retired from her therapeutic hospice and palliative care clinical work at IU Health Methodist Hospital where she worked for the last 15 years. She is a Brooke’s Place contract therapist.

Helen fosters an atmosphere of genuineness, empathy and unconditional positive regard to those she serves in her work. She uses creativity and individualization as strengths in her care of others. She understands the complexities of grief and values each person’s own unique life story, perspective and journey. Helen enjoys spending quality time with her husband, married children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
